Celebrating 60+ Years In Christ's Service....
Blessings in a Bag
Once each quarter, the parish creates snack bags to hand to those in need whom we see while driving. Everyone packs their own bags from the supplies provided: cheese and crackers, granola bars, juice, applesauce, Vienna sausages, water, and a prayer. We think it’s a small but loving way to alleviate hunger and let the recipients know they are our brothers and sisters.

Interfaith Shelter Network (On hold due to Covid restrictions)
The Network is a rotational shelter program through which churches provide meals and overnight housing for homeless families and individuals. St. David's is a member of the Clairemont Branch of the Network and hosts the program for two weeks each year in early January. Our Mission Center is converted into sleeping cubicles for our guests and a dining area for their dinner and breakfast. They also enjoy our bathrooms with showers and our washing machine and dryer!
Mental Health Ministries
St. David's volunteers lead an Evening Prayer two Sunday’s of each month for the patients at the San Diego County Psychiatric Hospital on South Rosecrans We sing songs, read scripture, have a short homily, and invite prayer requests. At Christmas, parishioners sign cards for the patients which we give along with some Christmas candy.
Meals-To-Go
St. David’s parishioners and friends provide meals to parishioners who are ill, recovering from surgery, or otherwise in need of this service. If you are willing and able to help, even just occasionally, contact the church office at [email protected].
Mission to Seafarers (On hold due to Covid restrictions)
St. David's collects paperback books, magazines, and large picture calendars for the Stella Maris Mission to Seafarers at the 10th Ave. Marine Terminal. The Seafarers Center is a great place for the merchant seamen to relax, use the phone, play basketball or ping-pong, or have a snack. They can take the books, magazines, and calendars with them on their ships
Need-A-Ride
A group of people are available to provide a ride to church services or functions for those in need of transportation. If you need a ride – or can provide one, email or call the church's office: [email protected] or 619-276-4567.
Prison Ministries (will resume when Covid restrictions are lifted at facility)
Twice yearly in the spring and fall, parishioners bake dozens of cookies for the Kairos Prison weekends held in R.J. Donvan Correctional Facility in Otay Mesa. The cookies are given to the inmate participants during the weekend so that they can share them with other prisoners and guards.
Several times a month a team from St. David's prepares dinner to the 25-30 women at Rachel's Night Shelter in downtown San Diego. The women are trying to turn their lives around by staying drug and alcohol free and by taking classes and/or looking for work. The teams prepare and serve a main dish, salad, dessert, fruit and drinks. If you'd like to volunteer, contact Debby Park (858-220-8207)
Community Christian Service Agency (CCSA)
CCSA is a neighborhood emergency aid agency that St. David's and other churches in Clairemont established over 45years ago. Its services have been expanded to include the Pacific Beach neighborhood as well. This agency provides food, clothing, transportation, and ID assistance. The goal of CCSA is to serve people lovingly, as Christ did, by responding to their physical and spiritual needs without regard to race, color or creed. St. David's collects canned and dried foods for CCSA's food pantry and clothing for their clothing room. We help provide backpacks for school children in the fall, Christmas food baskets for needy families, and we are the collection point for the annual Bay Park CCSA Food Drive in December. Some of our parishioners volunteer in the food and clothing rooms. To volunteer, call CCSA at (858) 274-2273.
Episcopal Community Services (ECS)
Operating under its mission of serving God by serving those in need through programs that foster hope, dignity and independence, ECS empowers vulnerable and struggling individuals and families by providing vital, high-quality social services that encourage healthy interdependence. Thousands of children and adults are served every day within their programs which focus on early childhood education and development (Head Start, Para las Familias): homelessness and mental illness (Safe Haven), and substance and alcohol abuse (CERRC, ACCORD).
St. David's has helped clients in the CERRC program with meals and family support.

Episcopal Relief and Development is the response of the Episcopal Church to suffering in the world. ERD works in more than 40 countries, including the U.S., to respond to disasters and helps people by improving crop production and preventing diseases such as malaria. ERD disperses funds through local Episcopal dioceses and other organizations at the point of need, to get help directly to the people.
